Shatta Wale took on secular Nigerian musicians a few weeks ago, and now Empress Gifty is bringing attention to a similar issue in the Gospel music industry.
Unlike how musicians from West African countries frequently flock to Ghana for gigs, the Ghanaian Gospel singer says she can’t recall how often Ghanaian Gospel singers have been asked to lead events in Nigeria.
In a video posted to social media, the ‘Eye Woaa’ singer expressed her displeasure.
“I want to speak facts to the folks at the forefront of the Ghanaian Gospel industry,” she explained.
“When was the last time a Ghanaian Gospel performer headlined an event in Nigeria, when was the last time?” she followed up with.
“If I recall correctly, it was just last month that I saw Celestine Donkor saying she was traveling to Nigeria for a program,” she continued.
Ghanaian gospel musicians, according to Empress Gifty, are not even treated well.
“Do they treat us the same way we treat Nigerian Gospel artists in Ghana when we visit?
“When was the last time you saw a Nigerian gospel singer take a Ghanaian gospel act on a radio tour in Nigeria?
When they visit Ghana, some of them refuse to take photographs with us “she stated emphatically
